Why you joined GC: I joined because I had always been in Choirs at school and I loved my Gospel Choir in secondary school. Nine days after I first came to Choir I found myself on Tour with them, and a few weeks after that I became Treasurer, Choir is just the sort of place that welcomes and accepts you into their family. I’ve stayed for four years because GC is the highlight of my week, it’s always hilarious and I enjoy every aspect so much.

Why you joined GC:
I joined choir because singing has always been a big part of my life and after struggling to find a singing society I liked at university I was lucky to have a flyer given to me at the Refreshers fair of my first year and I never looked back since. I look forward to choir every Thursday and Friday and love how everyone is so inclusive and friendly. I don't have much to miss when I've got a family of my own here in Sheffield! :)

Why you joined GC: When I first came I really liked the familial atmosphere, it made me feel very welcome. I’ve also joined band and it’s really great being able to be part of such an integral part of choir. I’ve met some truly wonderful people and have truly found my place at uni. Plus Kyle’s voice is a dream!

Why you joined GC: I’ve always liked singing. It took me a long time to try and find a society that was right for me, and it turned out that GC was the place to be! Everyone’s really fun and I’ve met some of my closest friends in this society, so I can honestly say that I’m glad I joined.

Why you joined GC: My life has always been pretty musical, so when I was first invited to join the gospel choir knowing I’d get the opportunity to sing and play the piano, I was really excited. After my first GC experience, rehearsals became part of my weekly routine and the warm atmosphere and amazing people is what has kept me here ever since.

Why you joined GC: I joined GC because I had a passion for singing, and Gospel Choir seemed like the perfect place! Everyone was friendly and welcoming from my very first rehearsal. I have made the loveliest friends and improved my confidence immensely. I'm so grateful this amazing choir exists!

Why you joined GC: I’d never been in a choir before coming to university, but it looked really interesting so I went along to the Give It a Go, and I have never looked back. Everyone was so welcoming and the choir had such an amazing energy. I was hooked!

Why you joined GC: Not gonna lie, at first I quite reluctantly tagged along to the Give it a Go with my housemates who wanted to try it out, but then with no exaggeration it ended up being one of the best decisions I made throughout my five years of uni, in terms of my social life, mental health and self confidence! Every rehearsal, social and concert is a joy, and even though I've now graduated (twice) from uni, the GC family is part of my life <3

ABOUT THE GOSPEL CHOIR
The University of Sheffield Gospel Choir is an inclusive, friendly choir. The atmosphere is deliberately informal and we don't hold auditions in order to make people feel welcome and at ease. Our repertoire is vast and varied ranging from uplifting African American Spirituals to contemporary pop music to popular Disney songs, all with an important message at their core. The choir is about more than just singing; we learn and develop together, form lasting friendships and provide support for one another.
As a choir, we love performing and do it as
much as we can! We have previously performed at the Christian Union Carol Service at the Sheffield
Cathedral, the Sheffield Christmas Lights Switch on
for Heart FM, as well as holding our own Christmas and summer concerts. We are always looking for new opportunities to perform so please get in touch if you would like us for your event! ☺ This year we have an extra concert in March 2018 to celebrate our ten year anniversary!
